Humidifiers are a popular product and a lot of companies try to be up to date and come up with unique technologies and designs, be it portable or furnace humidifiers. Here, we try to look at some of the latest humidifiers from some of the best manufacturers in the business. There are both portable and whole house models in the latest offerings below.
One of the latest in the whole house humidifier departments is the TrueSteam Humidification System by Honeywell. This humidifier has to be installed and connected to the air circulation or heating system in your house and has a capacity of 12 gallons of water. Ideal for homes around 3000ft in area, this device will humidify your entire house with ease and you can also add germicides or other substances to the water for bacteria removal. In addition, the unique TrueSteam technology allows it to use far less water than other comparable humidifiers.
There are several recent offerings in the single room or portable humidifiers department and some of the recent ones are from the popular manufacturer, Vicks. The V420-CAN is a recent cool mist humidifier with a 1.2gallon capacity that can function for 24hours on a single filling. This humidifier works best for a medium sized room, a maximum 200-250ft in area. In addition, it also has an air filter that is quite effective in removing tobacco smoke, dust, pollen and other such unwanted particulate matter.
The next is the V4500-CAN humidifier, a warm mist humidifier from Vicks. This model doesn’t have any filters and hence nothing for you to check, clean or replace. In addition, the mist is made visible to the eyes and you can enjoy the soothing feeling it provides. It also features a control that lets you adjust the intensity of the mist. While it can be used to humidify rooms, at low intensity settings, it can also be used as personal medication equipment for sinus treatments and the like.
The next humidifier we’ve covered is the Emerson MA0950 evaporative humidifier. It has a capacity of 9.5 gallons and comes with an easy-fill 2.5 gallon bottle for convenient refilling. At low setting, it is very quiet and this humidifier works great for homes that are less than 2000ft in area. It is portable and despite walls and rooms, can humidify the entire home provided it is placed in the right position. It has an automatic humidistat that controls humidity in the house and comes with the option of automatic shutoff to stop humidification when the target is reached.
Humidifiers are released on a regular basis and there is never one that is the best to buy. Usually, the latest ones have the best and most efficient technology but they also tend to cost more than preexisting ones. It is up to you to make a decision based on your home size and budget.

There are different reasons why people purchase something from the store, grocery, and other markets. At times, purchases fall on the following reasons like expressing jovial feelings if gloomy (this applies to women who are emotionally bothered or depressed), if it is a fad, and of course, the major reason is that it is a need. The same argument applies when securing humidifiers at home or for personal use. However, there are two authentic and conclusive judgments, which are not just appropriate, but relevant to the situation. The following are the fundamental basis but other considerations vary and depend on individual circumstances.

Primarily, humidifiers are basic needs for all countries that experiences regular extremely cold or warm seasons. This article applies for them. It does not fall to wants or luxuries, but it is an immediate response to a need. The choice must be drawn out by individuals or groups if it is centralized or confined to one area or room in the house. The bottom line still lies on the result of the humidity test using the hygrometer to prove and sustain the findings and concrete statistics.

Last concentration for recommendation is given by physicians or family doctors for the betterment of health. The advice actually applies for the body being sensitive to cold temperatures like allergic reactions and other associated ailments due to winter, or hot weather that induces sinusitis, chapping of lips, and drying of throat. This is where personal humidifiers come to the rescue, especially when travelling. These two are general guidelines while prices, maintenance, and convenience are other considerations to have a good buy.

Now that you have decided to buy a humidifier, you should begin looking around for potential products. There are plenty of humidifiers in the market and not all of them would suit what you are looking for. For most of us, value for money is most important and by this we are looking at those that offer optimum performance without burning a hole in the wallet. Here, we have a list of the most cost effective humidifiers available. While these offer great value for money, do note that they might not be the ones that suit you best probably because of their size and capacity.

At the top of the list is the Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier with Auto Shut-off. This is a rather small one with a capacity of 1 gallon that can offer continuous evaporation for about 12 hours. It has an automatic shut off option and comes with 2 preset “comfort settings” that will allow you to use predetermined humidity levels. In addition it comes with a medicine cup that lets you add inhalants for your benefit. This humidifier costs a mere $50 and for less than $20 if purchased online.

The next humidifier we are going to look at is the Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Humidifier. This one has two tanks for easy filling and can work for 24 hours. The key feature of this humidifier is the ultraviolet lamp that sterilizes and kills microorganisms. The advantage of having two tanks is that you do not need to turn off the humidifier to refill it. For about $60, this is one of the best humidifiers that you can get.

Another brilliant humidifier is the Honeywell HCM-6009. Compared to the previous two, this one is rather large and has a capacity of 9 gallons! It is designed for rooms as large as 2300ft and can run for 24 hours on a single filling. If you have a large living room or lounge, this one is the way to go. Moreover, if you have the right equipment, it can be connected to the air circulation system in your house. This humidifier is one of the quietest ones in the market. It doesn’t make a sound, well relatively, during its vaporizing action and has a unique air washing technology that allows it to purify air and make it free of pollen, dust and the like. It comes with three moisture level settings so you can choose the one that suits you depending on the weather outside. Another unique feature is the microbial filter that helps in keeping it free of disease carrying organisms. It is more expensive than the previous two humidifiers that we have seen but is completely worth every penny. At $100, it is the best you can buy with your money!

The above three are the best value for money in our opinion but they may not be the ones that suit your needs. We suggest you look around for more and keep in mind the specifications of capacity and area it can service before making a decision.

For your humidifier to function properly and provide you with the right amount of moisture for your room, it needs to be maintained properly. Portable humidifiers especially need to be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure that there is no microbial growth and reduce scaling. Cleaning a humidifier is fairly simple and here we look at some general tips to keep your humidifier in working condition. Before undertaking any cleaning, it is mandatory that you read through the cleaning and maintenance section of your humidifier’s manual to find out if there are any special instructions to clean it; sometimes the wicks aren’t washable and need a special solution.

To clean the inside, the first step is to disassemble the humidifier. Before doing this make sure that the power is switched off and that the device is unplugged to avoid any risk of electric shock. When cleaning the water reservoir, empty it first and then fill it to about 2/3rd level. After this, add a bit of chlorine bleach to take care of any microbes. Swirl the water around so that it cleans the corners of the reservoir too.

The next step is to clean the wick and the filter. If your instruction manual allows for these to be cleaned with water, immerse them in a tub of cold water and let them lie there for about 20 minutes. This will dissolve any dirt and grime. After this, drain the water, fill it again, rinse the wick or filter and wipe to get rid of the smaller grains of dust. Once you are done cleaning your filter, replace it as it was initially. Finally, you will want to clean the outer body of your humidifier. For this use a cloth dipped in warm water or diluted vinegar.

While the general cleaning process is the same for any humidifier, there are a couple of pointers to keep in mind. If you are using the humidifier in a dusty location, best immerse the wick or the filter in water and add a bit of disinfectant. Make sure you do not add too much as the scent will stick and it might damage the filter. However, while cleaning the reservoir do not add anything such as salt that you would use to clean other devices. This will just damage the humidifier.

Another aspect of maintaining your humidifier you need to look into is storing for long periods. If you are going on holiday or the like, make sure that you drain it completely. Stagnant water in the reservoir can be breeding grounds for bacteria and fungi and that is something you do not want. Empty it, dry it and then store it, preferably in a dark and dry place.

With the above tips and instructions, cleaning your humidifier should be easy and if you maintain it properly, it will give you many years of service. Make sure you read the manual first and be on the lookout for specific instructions.

Humidifiers come in two types; portable and whole house or furnace humidifiers. Installing a furnace humidifier requires you to connect the humidifying equipment to the air circulation or heating system of your house. This is a rather complex procedure but here we will try to cover a few basics.

Before installing a furnace humidifier, make sure that you turn off all electricity supply to your house and the heating too. Ensure that the thermostat is set to zero to get rid of any residual heating in the vents. You will need adhesive equipment, tin foil and the little bits and pieces to hold the whole setup together. The idea is that your humidifier will be connected to the main piping system of your heater. Use a metal pipe to connect your humidifier outlet to the pipe and if you feel the need, connect a ball valve. This will come in handy when you need the humidifier but not the heat.

Installing the humidifier this way has several advantages. Firstly, you can use the existing system that is built into your house. Next, considering that the heating system will be used in the cold and flu season, increasing the humidity in the house can reduce the chances of infection from microorganisms. Once you have made all the connections from your humidifier to your vents system, you will need to connect the water supply to the humidifier. This can be done with a simple pipe, fairly small in diameter. Remember to use soft and cold water to avoid mineral deposits inside the humidifier and to maintain temperature of the heating system. You do not want it becoming hot and humid very quickly. Installing such a humidifier can be done by yourself or with the help of a handyman if you want it done quickly.

The other type of humidifier available is the portable humidifier. There really is no installing to be done for these. However, there are a couple of pointers to keep in mind while using them. Firstly, you will have to decide the place in the room where you will house it. This should be a relatively open so that the humidifier can have a higher throw and work more efficiently. Ensure that it is kept in a relatively clean place and avoid letting water stagnate inside the humidifier. Furthermore, it is advisable to have a digital hygrometer if your humidifier doesn’t already have one to monitor the humidity content inside your house. This will be of great help to let you know when you need to use the humidifier.

Installing a humidifier is fairly simple. You just need to keep the above few pointers in mind. Portable humidifiers come with their own instruction booklet and referring to that is the best thing to do. In addition to installation instructions, there will be troubleshooting tips and cleaning and maintenance instructions too. Since each humidifier is different, the instruction manual is the best guide there is for you.

Humidifiers have become essential equipment in every household. Humidifiers are used to add moisture to the air and prevent dry skin and lips. Used primarily in winter, humidifiers can be operated in a manner that the energy consumption is as low as possible. You can keep the energy consumption low by strictly following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Energy has become an important factor and every manufacturer strives to produce a humidifier that is energy efficient.

Saving energy not only helps in direct saving of money but also helps in addressing major issues like global warming. Taking this into consideration, manufacturers ensure that they give specific guidelines to minimize energy consumption. You may need to take care that you do not excessively humidify the air. This will help you save energy.

Remember the major energy cost of the humidifier comes from its ability to moisten the air. Thus if you do not moisture it excessively, you will be saving energy. In most cases, it is sufficient to humidify just around 30%. This is because the moisture in the air during winter drops only by 30%. This can help you in substantial amount of energy saving.

Invariably all humidifiers require regular cleaning. If you fail to clean your humidifier at periodic intervals, you can be sure that the energy cost of the humidifier is going to increase. The procedure to clean your humidifier including the frequency of cleaning would be well laid out in the manufacturer’s manual. Also, you may want to service it regularly so as to replace some worn out parts. Clean and service your humidifier periodically and never wait for your humidifier to stop working. Not only will it increase inconvenience, you may also have to spend a substantial amount in cleaning and servicing if you have not done it regularly.

Humidifiers do not break down all of a sudden and if you do not clean or maintain it properly, the energy cost will slowly keep increasing. In addition to all this, there are some humidifying activities that are part of your everyday life. These activities include cooking, bathing, showering and drying clothes. Their effectiveness is highly limited and localized. You may want to check if you can use this humidifying to some extent. This will decrease the load on your humidifier and help you save the planet as well as money. Whenever you shop for a humidifier, always prefer a humidifier that has star rating. This will ensure that your energy cost is low.

Humidifiers are a great addition to your room as they maintain the moisture content and keep the atmosphere comfortable. These are especially useful if you are living in an area with low relative humidity. Moreover, humidifiers can be used to disperse fragrance or preventive inhalants across the room for the benefit of the occupants. Buying a humidifier is perhaps a simple decision but there are a couple of points to keep in mind. Read on to find out how you can get the best humidifier for you.

The first thing you need to decide is where you will be using it. If you want the humidifier to work in your entire house, then you will need a furnace type and connect it to the central air or heating system. However, if it is just one room that you are looking to humidify, go for a portable humidifier. These come in a range of sizes and designs, and correspondingly, the prices. Before deciding on a humidifier, we strongly suggest you fix a budget for it.

Once you have set the budget for your humidifier, you need to decide on exactly how humid you want the room. If it is a big room and you want it mildly humid, best go for a medium sized one; you will understand which one to get when you start browsing through the multitude of humidifiers on offer through the internet. On the other hand, if you are one who prefers a wet atmosphere, get a high powered one that manages to keep up with the evaporation rate.

The next aspect to look for is the maintenance of the humidifier. The information related to this is usually available at the time of purchase so you should make sure that it is something that you can handle. For example, some humidifiers need to be cleaned with special solutions whereas others can just be soaked in water and you are done with. Ensure that it is something that you are comfortable with and have time for, though it doesn’t need to be done very often.

Finally, look at the size of the humidifier that you are going to buy. It shouldn’t occupy too much space in the room. Also, if you are buying online, the store will have reviews by current users of the same product. No other source of information is more helpful than this and it is in your best interest to read the same.
A humidifier makes your house a much more comfortable place to live in. However, a wrong choice can have disastrous consequences such as too much humidity or a high level of noise due to its size. As much as you can read up about the aspects to consider, nothing beats browsing through the various choices you have and researching about them. The above points are only to guide you but it is your decision as to what you want. We recommend you visit your local retailer to get a taste of the humidifier and then come back online to get the best deals!

Humidifiers are electrical appliances used to increase the moisture content inside the house. There are two types of humidifiers; point-of-use humidifiers which work only for the room that they are in and furnace or whole-house humidifiers, which are connected to any centralized system in the house, such as the heating or the air conditioning. Read on to find out more about what type of humidifier you want for your house or room.

Firstly, if you do not need to humidify your entire home, then it is rather unnecessary to go for a furnace humidifier. Instead, it is best to opt for a point of use one as it works within the confines of the room. The size of the room largely affects the size of the type and capacity of the humidifier that you need. A large room, for example, the master bedroom or the living room in your house will require one that can produce a higher output. Humidifiers have their own specification and the one you need to look out for is in litres per hour. This measures the amount of water that it can process in an hour.

The most common type of humidifier is the evaporator. This works in a rather simple manner and all it does is allow the water to evaporate into the room from a large surface area. Next, the moisture is flung into the air with the help of a fan. Most of the popular brands use this method inside the humidifier. Among the various other types, which follow, this one is the easiest to use and the easiest to maintain.

Another type of humidifier is the vaporizer. As the name suggests, this one boils the water and releases the moisture into the air. The vaporizer differs from the evaporator in the fact that the moisture released is at a much higher temperature. While it might seem disadvantageous to have it this way, there are several benefits. Firstly, the higher temperature reduces the number of microorganisms involved. Next, the high temperature can be used to release a medical inhalant if required.

The next type of humidifier is the impeller. Rather than releasing vapor into the atmosphere, this one releases tiny droplets of water. A fan flings the water drops at a diffuser which breaks it down further and spreads it around the room. Among the different types, these ones are the cheapest but tend to increase the relative humidity manifold and create a sultry environment.

The final type of humidifiers is the ultrasonic humidifier. This involves a metal diaphragm or plate that constantly moves at a frequency that is beyond our hearing range, and hence appears quiet. This plate induces the droplets into the room.

Among the various types of humidifiers, the evaporator is the most common type and the most popular. For any room, an evaporator is the best and most appropriate type of humidifier you should go for. However, if your room is quite small, such as a study or the kitchen, an impeller is the better option.

Everyone is busy in doing different tasks, errands, and work-related responsibilities. It is expected that when an individual is done from the exasperating and task basking activities, a simple reward of sleeping for about eight hours is more than enough. Nonetheless, whenever the winter or summer season is coming, brain draining effects could be felt not just from the toil and stress received from work, but also with the temperature felt in the surroundings.

The most common humidifier does not suit to the situation of the individuals who are working daily, especially the working mothers. Allocating another time in refilling humidifiers and checking its filter is heavy and difficult for them. The good news is that aside from the personal and portable type of humidifier, which needs constant refilling after eight hours, which is the standard time to refill the tanks with another liter of water, which is not convenient and comfortable for them. Hence, the whole house flow-through bypass humidifier is the answer for all the inconveniences and hassles since this is permanently installed to the formal home system.

There is no need for regular maintenance because of the different systems that it has compared to the two kinds of humidifiers previously mentioned. There is lesser effort for repeated refilling since it is an automated system where minimal monitoring is required. This is not really for a lazy individual who do not want to be bugged or bothered in doing regular maintenance and refilling. It compensates everyone who has no time for themselves, being rendered for this simple yet restless responsibility.
