Air O Swiss 7142 Ultrasonic Humidifier

Air O Swiss are one of the most reliable names on the market and the Air O Swiss 7142 Ultrasonic Humidifier keeps the tradition of sold, great looking humidifiers alive. This is one of the priciest of their models, but I bought it because I trust the brand deeply and wanted one of their top models for my home.

This is an ultrasonic humidifier, which means it works by using high frequency vibrations that produce a mist that will be outputted into your living space. Like other ultrasonic humidifiers from Air O Swiss, it features the option of warm mist or cold mist humidifier options, which means it’s a great option to have all year round.

The Basics

First and foremost I would like to point out that this is an extremely stylish humidifier – one of the best I’ve seen on the market. It’s slim, chrome and black colored, and looks remarkably modern. It has a large LCD display which makes it extremely easy to use, and the ITC technology (Intelligent Temperature Compensation) automatically regulates the output of mist by the humidifier to maintain your desired level of humidity.

I have quite a large house and the Air O Swiss 7142 Ultrasonic Humidifier is perfect for this. It has a range of up to 860 square feet, so can fill any large room with humid air. Moreover, it has a 2-gallon water tank which, while difficult to fill up because of its shape, does a great job in humidifying big rooms.

The great thing about the Air O Swiss 7142 Ultrasonic Humidifier is that it not only automatically regulates the output of mist, but also features a hygrostat and mist output regulator. Humidity levels are set between 40% and 80% and this means, unlike some other humidifiers, you will not run the risk of over humidifying the room. This can lead to mold growth. It also boasts a cleaning indicator, low water indicator and auto off function, so when it needs tending to you will know.

The unit does need cleaning every week or so and, thanks to its shape, this can be a little cumbersome. You will also need to replace the Hydro Cell to ensure that it provides fresh humidified air. This will need to happen every 1 – 2 months. You should also replace the demineralization cartridge every 2 – 3 months, or even more frequently if you are using hard water.

The Verdict

I think the Air O Swiss 7142 Ultrasonic Humidifier is worth every cent you pay for it. It may be a little more expensive than other humidifiers, but the range of features and the impressive technology, such as the built in humidistat, mean that I never have to worry about whether it’s running well or something is going wrong. It is also virtually silent in operation, which I love. The LCD screen is fantastic for setting it up, too.

The only problems with this unit are the price and the slightly annoying water tank (which, at 11 inches high, can be pretty difficult to refill). But for a house with large rooms that needs a powerful humidifier that looks great, I can’t think of many better options on the market.
